Konichiwa...
Was treated to lunch at Raffles Marina the other day by the MD of a known Japanese company. Had an $8.50 plate of nasi goreng, while overlooking the straits of Johor and the second link. Not bad a place. Something different. This MD is the best I have ever met. In the morning he served us green tea. For lunch we sat in his BMW and went to Raffles Marina. Later during tea time, he personally served us arabia coffee and oreo cheesecake from Dome. Putting the difficulty of understanding his English aside, he is one very accomodating and eager to please Japanese bloke.
I'm a big sushi fan, so I asked his thoughts on Japanese food here in Singapore, and he said they're expensive and lousy. The best he said, guess what... were not even from Japan. According to him the best sushi places he knows are all in Thailand! Hmmmmmm, so I shall go to Thailand for my sushi one day... but for now, Sakae Sushi and Ichiban Boshi will do just fine, although I miss the Sushi Train in Sydney.
On our second day he served us New York cheesecake from Dome and on our third day he served us some unique cake from Singapore's all time best cake shop - Lana cakes. Luckily we were there for only a few days, any longer and we would either hate yummy cakes for the rest of our lives or get fat sooner than expected...
