1st Week of Work
Reported at the boardroom on the 22nd floor of the office building at 9am on Monday. Located within Raffles Place, the view from the boardroom was simply majestic. Overlooking Marina Bay, Sheare's Bridge and East Coast, I could see the ships and tankers cruising around our little island. I felt the calmness of the East Coast seas... within the first ten minutes of official working hours I was already dreaming my way through, wishing I had such a beautiful office I could call my own, one where I could stare into the emptiness beyond our shores whenever I feel the presures of the corporate world... Cheh!!! Belum start kerja dah nak berangan- angan!!!
Anyway, the first half of the day was allocated for admin purposes, by 2pm I was already at my client's place starting on the new job. I'll be placed here till at least the end of March. The good thing is, the client's place is right smack in the middle of town, yeah it's at Wisma Atria, wooohooaaa! Work has been pretty much as I expected it to be - long hours, but I guess they haven't pushed me yet coz I've only just started. Don't wanna spoil the enthusiasm too soon I guess. I'll be in the office by 8.20am everyday. On Monday left the office at 9.30pm, Tuesday - 8.30pm, Wednesday - 6.30pm coz my manager was on leave!, Thursday - 11pm and Friday - 9pm. Have to thank my colleague for assisting some of my work on Saturday, otherwise I would have been in the office on Saturday too. But that did not mean I had nothing to do over the weekend, I actually brought home work which I finished just one hour ago. Hmmmmmm... signs of worse things to come... But I'm enjoying it for now. My manager is young and chatty and bubbly and that reduces the pressure. The team gets along well and that is what matters. At the very worst, whenever I'm stressed, I can just go to Far East Plaza and gobble down a plate of oily and unhealthy mee goreng or hokkien mee!!!
1st week down, unknown weeks remaining!!!
I'm Employed!!!
I have found the answer to getting a job. Pass a copy of ur CV to a friend working in whichever company and ask him to hand it personally to HR. You'll get a call from HR within fifteen minutes of them receiving ur CV. Attend an interview the following morning an get a job offer by the afternoon. No need for cover letters and all the hassles. The only one among the 400 applications where I did not submit a cover letter and I've been recruited. So now we all know the secrets of getting a job -contacts! Never expected it to play such an important role in my jobsearch.
Anyway, I've been targeting this job even before I left for Australia, yes it has been my dream job for a career start, and I still cannot believe that I got it. The hours will be a nightmare, a challenge to my mind and body, but I will strive to hang in there for as long as I can, to gain as much knowledge and exposure from the firm I longed to be a part of for the longest time. So Monday here I come!
It has been a good 1 month and 4 days of job hunting and the best that could occur has occured. I am thankful for this string of good luck. A wonderful Eid & early birthday gift for myself. Enjoy your Hari Raya Haji people and may all our wishes come true!

Dilemma
This day last month I was attending my graduation ceremony and ready to head back to Singapore. The KL trip was fun, I shall not put up the pics unless I receive any requests... Have been looking for a job actively, submitted in all about 350-400 applications. Guess my cover letter writing skills need much improvement, based on the interview ratio I've received. Hmmmm, wonder what the X-factor is to make them call you for that interview. I just need that one interview to land myself a job. After all, I have a 100% record for getting a job from the companies that have interviewed me. Got my break, scored one interview in all, called back for a second interview, and they have offered me a job. Hehehe... 100% clean record intact. It's a CPA firm. I am very excited about the prospects but the initial pay is kinda sad... I'm having second thoughts. Should I, or should I not. If I don't, when will I get another interview??? If I sign on the dotted line, I'll be underpaid and suffering for at least a year... What should I do??? Any thoughts people??? What the heck... let us enjoy tomorrow's Cup Final!
