Eid Mubarak
First of all, let me wish everyone a Selamat Hari Raya. Kalau ada salah dan silap tu I sincerely wish for all of your forgiveness, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
My Hari Raya celebrations here went pretty well, it exceeded my expectations by more ways than I could imagine. On malam raya itself, after my last exam, had my last iftar at Omar mosque, the food was similar to what we've been having all along, but somehow it was the best buka I had at the mosque, it tasted good. Maybe I wasn't thinking about uni work anymore and was just in a relaxed mood. Anyway, slept at about 2.30am that night, woke up at 4am+, left home at 5.45am and made our way to a Turkish Mosque, one of the biggest mosques here. Takbir here is not as merdu as what we hear in Singapore. Sini takbir dia takde lagu, flat & monotonous. And they don't recite it as much as in Singapore - only a few times. Even the prayer was somewhat different from what we practice - the takbir was after rukuk.
Anyway, guess what we had for breakfast on Hari Raya??? Sedap tau... Yeayyyy - McDonalds Big Breakfast at the halal Macs nearby! At this point in time Raya was going as I expected - boring hashbrown, eggs, beef patty & mcmuffin to replace the normal rendang & ketupat. Made 3 visits in all the past 2 days. Just like raya back home, ate to my max, wasn't deprived of the kuehs, had kueh tart, makmur, rempeyek and many more... whooawhhhooooo and that, accompanied by the good and intimate company of our visits, just made the celebrations here almost perfect. The best it could get being overseas. Anyway, for once in my life, some lagu raya were applicable and more meaningful! "Di hari raya, terkenang daku kepada si dia..." - Dendang Perantau lah!
Alrite, dats my Hari Raya away from home, need some rest now... will update some pix and hopefully videos soon, take care people & enjoy your Raya visitings.
I live alone Dear Allah, stay by my side In all my daily needs, be thou my guide... Grant me good health, for that indeed I pray To carry on my work from day to day... Keep pure my mind, my thoughts, my every deed Let me be kind, unselfish in my neighbour's need... Spare me from fire, from flood, malicious tongues, From thieves, from fear and evil ones... If sickness or an accident befall, Then humbly Allah, I pray, hear thou my call... And when I am feeling low, Or in despair, Lift up my heart and help me in my prayer... I live alone, Dear Allah, yet have no fear, Because I feel your presence ever near...
Today's Quote
