Came across an interesting TV show on travelling. Did my own research and here's a summary of what I found.
Ever heard of the Hutt River Province??? It is a self-proclaimed independent nation state situated 595km north of Perth in Western Australia and measuring 75 square km in size. Founded on 21st April 1970. It has its own government, own legislation, own navy, own flag, etc. The founders relied on a loophole in the British common law to create the province. It has over 13000 citizens worldwide and has representative embassies spread across the world. Visitors to this place will have their passport stamped upon arrival and departure, if you don't have a passport, then a visa is required, which is available upon arrival for a fee of $2. Some people worldwide treat the province as a joke, while others support its quest for self independence and strong desires for standing up for one's own rights. The Australian Government's current position on the Province is that it is nothing more than a private enterprise operating under a business name... how interesting!
