The Moral Of The Story Is...
Forget Satre, forget Plato, and forget Confucius. It's stories like these that teach us the real meaning of life!
A non-conformist bird decides not to fly south for the winter.
He says, 'I've had enough of this flying south every winter, I'll just stay right here on this farm, what's the big deal, anyway?'
So he stays. Winter comes and is very cold. The non-conformist bird has never felt such cold weather and is afraid that he might freeze to death. Realising he has made a big mistake by staying, he heads to a nearby barn for shelter. On his way to the barn, it begins to snow. The poor bird is cold, tired and hungry.
'Why did I stay?' he asks himself as he collapses on the ground.
As he lies there covered by the snow, a cow comes by. The cow, feeling the need to relieve himself, craps right on the bird.
At first the bird is angry and says, 'Who did this horrible thing to me? How dare someone crap on me! I'll get him for this.'
The crap is too heavy for him to free himself. But, after a while the crap begins to warm him and he forgets all about his anger. In fact he is so warm that he begins to sing. A buzzard passing by overhears the singing and goes down to investigate. As he clears away the crap he finds the bird. The bird is so happy to be free from the crap that he thanks the buzzard, who then decides to eat the little bird.
The moral of this story: Just because someone craps on you, it does not make them your enemy, and just because someone gets you out of the crap, it does not make them your friend.
If only Tan Ah Teck has this kind of moral of the story...
I live alone Dear Allah, stay by my side In all my daily needs, be thou my guide... Grant me good health, for that indeed I pray To carry on my work from day to day... Keep pure my mind, my thoughts, my every deed Let me be kind, unselfish in my neighbour's need... Spare me from fire, from flood, malicious tongues, From thieves, from fear and evil ones... If sickness or an accident befall, Then humbly Allah, I pray, hear thou my call... And when I am feeling low, Or in despair, Lift up my heart and help me in my prayer... I live alone, Dear Allah, yet have no fear, Because I feel your presence ever near...
